Today, we want to introduce to you Tameem, who, as member and head of the Talent Management department, was responsible for recruiting new members for Team Europe and maintaining the website as a volunteer for PROJECT-E.
Enjoy reading!
In three words, how would you describe your experience as a volunteer at PROJECT-E?
Life-long inspiration!
What was your most memorable experience with PROJECT-E?
Certainly, strategy weekends were the most memorable days in the year with meeting everyone and getting to know the details of a year-long work.
In bigger terms, reaching and exceeding each year’s goals starting with funding and ending with placement of beneficiaries in decent jobs were the milestones that will always remain memorable.
What do you think sets PROJECT-E apart from other „international aid“ projects?
Team Europe. Leading PROJECT-E’s strategy and the Headquarters operations with zero overhead cost is phenomenal! This was only possible by a group of highly motivated young volunteers who donated their time for a great cause.
Why did you have to leave PROJECT-E?
By August 2018, the workload of my master’s degree piled up since I was approaching the end of my degree and writing my master thesis – along with learning German and working part-time. I had to leave PROJECT-E, or rather take a break, to finish my studies and start my career afterwards.
What are you doing right now professionally?
I have graduated a few months ago with Master of Art in Development Economics and International Studies from FAU-Erlangen-Nürnberg. Since October 2019, I’ve been working as a business and Agile consultant in Allianz in Munich.
Do you still follow PROJECT-Es activities on Social Media or are involved in any way?
Yes. I still follow PROJECT-E on social media, mainly LinkedIn since I am not very active on other platforms. Also, I am still in touch with some of the PROJECT-E members in Team Europe.
What did you learn from volunteering at PROJECT-E?
Since I was mainly responsible for recruiting, I learned a lot about interviews and recruiting. I also learned a great deal on setups and structures of NGOs.
Why would you recommend someone to volunteer for PROJECT-E?
It has a great return on investment! Investing a few hours a week rewards volunteers with very practical and useful experience, networking with good and interesting people and most important of all helping young Ethiopian women finding better work opportunities.
