International volunteers at PROJECT-E focus on networking

international volunteers

Third Team International Volunteers Call with PROJECT-E alumni

The work of the international volunteers who are involved in PROJECT-E often happens mainly within their own task areas. These include PR, finance, fundraising or management board work as well as talent management. To ensure cooperation across the boundaries of these departments, a video call of the entire Team International takes place once a month. Most recently, the call with all international volunteers, organised by PR volunteer Zoe, was themed around the networking opportunities that working for PROJECT-E offers. On this occasion, several PROJECT-E alumni joined the networking session and were available to answer any questions from Team International.

Q&A with alumni and international volunteers

The questions of the international volunteers to the alumni, moderated by Zoe, ranged thematically from the choice of the appropriate course of study to the time management of volunteering and the motivation of all team members. The alumni were able to give important advice and encouraged the Team International volunteers above all to pursue their personal interests and develop individual strengths in the process. They emphasised that it is not important to choose a degree program that leads to a specific profession. It is much more crucial to make the choice of studies dependent on personal passions and, in a second step, to respond to the question of how this passion can be used professionally.

Furthermore, the answers of the alumni crystallised how challenging the work for PROJECT-E can sometimes be in addition to education or work, but also how valuable the volunteer experiences prove to be, both in terms of content and at the soft-skill level at the same time. Moreover, as soon as more challenging times approach, the strong network formed by the volunteers can always be relied upon. In line with the idea of the monthly calls within Team International, the alumni underlined how helpful the contacts between current and former volunteers can be; on the one hand, when it comes to questions about training, internships or professions, and on the other hand, when it comes to one of PROJECT-E’s great strengths, the great team spirit and the community of international volunteers who motivate each other and work together.
