This autumn, a class of twenty new students started their studies at the PROJECT-E Hospitality Institute in Addis Abeba. For two years, they will work towards their goal to receive their degree. A lot has changed for the students in the recent weeks, as they were leaving home and moved to the student accomodation of PROJECT-E. We wish all of our students, who have just started, a very warm welcome and all the strength, success, luck and fun they will be needing in the coming semesters! One of the new first years students, Misrak Hailu, sat down with us to talk about school and life.
- What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
‘‘In my free time I like to do different activities such as cleaning my house, cooking food and sometimes I spend my time listening to music.’’
- Where do you see yourself in five years from now?
“After five years, as I will be graduating from PROJECT-E, I want to get my degree in’ hotel management’. I want to lead an independent life and I will be living by myself renting a house. I will work in a hotel following graduation. If I get the opportunity, I will choose ‘Sheraton hotel’ to work as a waitress. Moreover, I see myself being a very strong women who can deal with the challenges of life effectively.”
- How is PROJECT-E helping you to achieve this goal?
“PROJECT-E is a great support to make my dreams become reality. It gives me a quality education in hotel operation and is helping me financially. I will not be asking for any money from my family any more because the project is giving me a pocket money.
Now, I am a woman who has a concrete plan in my life because of the project. Especially, the life skill training is helping me to ask myself who I am, where I go and what I should do to achieve my goals. It increases my self-awareness , confidence, communication skills and is teaching me to be persistent in the challenges of everyday life.
I would like to thank the whole PROJECT-E community and my teachers for the great help they are offering me.”
