Another special night was hosted in February: The Lottery Dinner, the first prize of our lottery at the Open Day: The five guests and staff enjoyed a delicious three-course-menu that was cooked by the chef of the Nexus Hotel and served by our students.
On Friday the 19th February we hosted our lottery dinner at PROJECT-E’s Hospitality Institute, with five special guests in attendance, who won the dinner as the first price of our lottery held on the Open Day in October 2015.
The nine selected students did a great job with preparing the restaurant tables, the decoration, the menu and the meals themselves. This was a great opportunity for them to practice their skills at serving food and beverages to our guests and the PROJECT-E staff, and to get helpful feedback from a professional in the field. We are very proud of our students’ confident and professional manner throughout the night. A big “Thank you” to Fetenech, Shewanesh and Mulualem for training our students and for coordinating all the preparations!
The meal preparations were supported by the star chef Teshome Denke from the Nexus Hotel in Addis Ababa. He spent the whole day with our housekeeper Alem and our students in the kitchen, preparing a mix of Western and fusion dishes including a zesty mango-tuna-salad, a broccoli cream and a chicken soup, cordon bleu, beef and fish as main dishes, a fruit salad for dessert, and a coffee ceremony to wrap things up.
We greatly enjoyed the conversations with our Ethiopian-international guests, one of whom has long work experience in the Ethiopian hospitality industry himself, and had some interesting insights and stories to share. We are looking forward to staying in touch and cooperating with our guests in the future!
Thank you to Danny for providing beautiful flowers to complement our decorations!
