The Hamburger Initiative für Menschenrechte (HIM) honours innovative projects, this year under the slogan Project in Africa – Alternatives to Migration. We are proud to announce that PROJECT-E has been awarded as one of two African projects in the ceremony on April 4 2017 in Hamburg, Germany.
The board members of HIM, Susanna Hegewisch-Becker and Regine Dee, held opening speeches before our long-standing patron HRH Dr. Prince Asfa-Wossen Asserate gave a lecture on the topic “Preserve Europe – Save Africa”. He emphasized the importance of economic relations at eye level for sustainable development work – a direction that is fostered by all honoured projects.
On behalf of PROJECT-E, our Management Board members Moritz Kolbe and Nadja Frercksen received the reward, which is endowed with 6000€, and answered questions about our organisation and our current project, the Hospitality Institute.
The second project that received the same reward was the LikeMinds Project, which supports young internally displaced people in North-east Nigeria with a training programme that shall enhance their capabilities to rebuild their communities once they can return. The prize of honour went to the wild coffee project in Ethiopia that aims at protecting the diversity of wild coffee and enhancing the living conditions of local farmers.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Asfa-Wossen Asserate for the nomination, HIM for the award and everyone who has supported PROJECT-E for the last ten years – this prize would not have been possible without you!
