Team Thursday is still on! And today, we have the chance to hear more about Betelhem who works for Team Addis as a social worker.
1. What is your background?
I hold a BA in psychology and a MA in clinical psychology. However, my work experience is related to the social work area. Before joining PROJECT-E, I worked as a social worker in a development organisation that supports women and orphans.
2. What is your involvement with PROJECT-E?
I am a social worker at PROJECT-E. I mainly take part in the process of recruitment of beneficiaries. This includes the preparation of advertisements, contacting sub-cities, registering and following the applications, conducting interviews etc.
I also prepare training manuals and give life-skill-training sessions, do counselling, supervise the accommodations, prepare workshops on different topics and coordinate the mentorship programme. Generally, my duties are all related to the coordination of the ‘social support system’ of the project.
3. What are you passionate about?
It is my passion to engage in different helping professions. I want to help people with what I can and make their lives easier, especially those of young women. I believe that everyone has a potential to learn, grow and change. I want to see women in society to unleash their potential.
