Team Thursday Part 26 – Meet Hiwot

Hiwot joined our Team in Addis Ababa recently and is currently working on recruiting new students for the new academic year. Get to know her in our #TeamThursday interview:

1.What’s your background?

I did my bachelor’s degree in Social Anthropology and my master’s degree in social work. Before I joined PROJECT-E I worked at a different international NGOs focusing on the topics of community development, gender violence, child labour etc.

2. What’s your involvement with PROJECT-E?

I joined PROJECT-E in July 2018 as a social worker. I’m taking over the tasks of Bety who left PROJECT-E to continue her studies. Currently, I am recruiting new students for the Institute. We’ve already distributed the call for application to the sub-cities. I am registering the women and coordinate the application process.

3. What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about empowering women in education. For me, it is especially important to support women in rural areas. I also encourage parents to send their kids to school starting from the early age on.
