Lewam currently volunteers in the area of public relations at the PROJECT-E Hospitality Institute and helps with making our work more transparent! What else do you have to know about Lewam? Find out in this week’s Team Thursday interview below!
1.What’s your background?
I am born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I used to work at German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH until June 2018 as a junior assistant for gender issues. I am currently working as a translator and Social Anthropologist in a documentary film with a German production company (Evolution Films) since July 2018.
2. What’s your involvement with PROJECT-E?
I volunteered at PROJECT-E from April 2017 – May 2017 as an English Teacher. I am now currently volunteering in PROJECT-E’s Public Relations in Addis Ababa.
I am really happy to work with all the students and staff. I love the responses I get when I’m interviewing the students. It helps me realize more that PROJECT-E is doing a tremendous job for women in general. I love taking pictures of the students and staff because it helps me get closer to them.
3. What are you passionate about?
I am really passionate about women’s empowerment. I always want to engage myself in gender based tasks. It makes me happy to know that I’m contributing something to women, especially here in Ethiopia.
